We Saw a Need
The impetus for Appian Media began in 2015 when its two co-founders, Stuart Peck and Craig Dehut, were discussing the alarming rate of young people becoming disengaged with the Bible and recognized the glaring lack of biblical video that was accurate, professionally produced, and freely available. Using their expertise in video production and crowdfunding, they successfully crowdfunded the necessary money and assembled a small team to travel to Israel and create five episodes of first their docu-series “Following the Messiah”.
Appian Media Resources, Inc. was incorporated in 2016 as a 501c3 not-for-profit organization in response to the growing need to re-engage people with the life-changing power of the Bible, by creating biblically accurate, visually engaging content that is free to the world.
The idea behind "Appian Media" originates from the Roman roadway known as "The Appian Way," built in the 1st century. This road was the most impressive of its kind and opened up huge opportunities for travel, commerce, and for military campaigns. This road, however, while originally designed for worldly pursuits, was used by the 1st century Christians to bring the gospel to places that were not easily accessible before. They used whatever avenues were available to them to further the cause of Christ. (Acts 25:18)
By taking advantage of the “Appian Way of our time”; the roadways of the internet and media, this content is designed to be distributed into many places around the world where traditional evangelism would be difficult or even impossible.
Since its founding, Appian Media has taken numerous production trips to places like Israel, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan to produce dozens of hours of content, including multiple award-winning docu-series, a feature-length documentary, three podcast series, and one-of-a-kind printed workbooks that incorporate QR code linked media with compelling visuals and thought-provoking written content.
